Parkers Barn Wedding
When Chantelle and Brad first envisioned their wedding day, they dreamt of saying their vows on their own property in Pictou County surrounded by nature, with their closest family and friends. I even got to come by in person, to look at all the spots they were going to have special photo ops including sunflowers they planted and a little cove where a couch was going to be placed. It was honestly, so so perfect. However, as in typical Nova Scotia fashion, the weather had different plans. On the days leading up to their wedding, heavy rain was 100% imminent, and it quickly became clear that their dream backyard celebration wouldn’t be possible.
But instead of letting the storm clouds cast a shadow on their big day, Chantelle and Brad found a silver lining in the form of Parker’s Barn. This charming venue that’s just minutes from New Glasgow Nova Scotia quickly came to their rescue, offering a stunning, rustic indoor space that perfectly matched their vision. And it still has the outdoor country setting just like what they wanted. What could have been a setback turned into a blessing, with Parker’s Barn providing the warmth and beauty of a true country wedding venue. Let me just tell you this- that if you’re considering a barn wedding, this is the venue. They are the most perfectly oiled machine when it comes to weddings and that will take away so much stress on your wedding day!
Despite the rain, the couple’s spirits remained high. The energy was nothing short of joyful, and the love they shared was palpable. I loved being able to photograph Chantelle with her mom, dad and sister getting ready at their home, so it wasn’t a total loss not having the wedding at their house. We still got some great photos of them all together there! As soon as we arrived at Parker’s Barn, the place was buzzing with excitement, and you could feel the happiness in the air as guests gathered inside, preparing for the ceremony.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the presence of their dog, Trigger. It was clear from the start that this furry friend was just as much a part of their family as any human guest. Trigger made a charming appearance, coming down the aisle and he was just as excited as everyone else when Chantelle and Brad exchanged vows. Whether it was the wag of his tail or the way he sat patiently by their side, Trigger’s inclusion made the day even more special.
The rain, while relentless at times, didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. In fact, it added an unexpected yet wonderful layer to the entire day. As the ceremony took place inside the barn, I could already envision the beautiful outdoor photos that would follow. We waited for the rain to soften, then ventured outside with white see-through umbrellas to create some stunning shots. The umbrellas, paired with the soft, overcast light, gave the photos an ethereal, romantic feel!
The rain served as a playful backdrop for the images. The soft gray skies, combined with the lush greenery surrounding the barn, created an intimate, cozy atmosphere for the portraits. The couple’s genuine smiles and the natural beauty of the landscape made every frame a perfect snapshot of their love story. The umbrellas became a fun prop and a perfect way to add a touch of whimsy to the day, turning what could have been a challenge into one of the most memorable parts of the celebration.
As the evening unfolded, the barn filled with laughter, music, and dancing. The warmth of the space and the love between Chantelle and Brad even made my eyes swell with some tears. You can’t fake true love, true emotion and it’s definitely seen in the photos below. The rain may have reshaped their plans, but it certainly didn’t dull the magic of the day. Every detail, from the rustic charm of Parker’s Barn to the couple’s deep connection, came together to create a wedding that was uniquely theirs.
Chantelle and Brad’s Nova Scotia wedding was a testament to how love can turn even the most unexpected moments into something beautiful. In the end, it wasn’t about the weather or the venue—it was about two people deeply in love, supported by their closest friends and family, and a dog named Trigger who made everything even more perfect.
Here’s to a wedding that defied the odds and turned rain into romance. Congratulations, Chantelle and Brad!
