Raph & Christine
It’s not rare these days that you get an email for an upcoming wedding that is … let’s say… happening ASAP! That’s just the way it is for now with this whole worldwide pandemic. But what that doesn’t mean is that the weddings have any less zest, love, or celebration.
Christine emailed me just 3 months shy of her September wedding hoping I’d still be available. Though I had already moved to New Glasgow Nova Scotia- and my trips in to Montreal were going to be less and less, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to photograph her and Raphs’ backyard wedding. And to boot- it was on a Thursday! My inability to pass their story up was point in case- I’m a sucker for a good love story.
In every email form, I ask each couple to tell me a little bit about them. I want to be sparked by their spark. I want to know their ‘why’. I mean after all, when you hire your wedding photographer they very much are a huge part of your big day. Therefore it’s imperative that the connection is made early on and we, as your documenting eye, feel a draw to you both. In turn- it’s even MORE important that every couple feels the same.
A little background- both Raph and Christine are healthcare workers and that’s just how they met- at work! One thing that I loved about their connection is their impulsivity. I’ll let Christine tell it: “ On a whim, Raphaël invited me to travel together and off we went without really knowing each other! We hit it off right away on the trip but when we came back, that spark was still there, it was not only the glittering of the Eiffel Tower while sipping bubbles (haha!). We have been together ever since (8 years).” Not to mention that their biggest gift they received before their wedding- was their adorable little boy Noah. He makes his modeling debut in the photos below ;)
How beautiful a story hey? Just like out of a movie.
So fast forward to their Montreal wedding that happened in September on a sunny Thursday afternoon. I flew in the day before and was queued and ready for their day. Though they wanted a big wedding- they’ve decided to do that later and still get married with their closest family and friends. Christine has this energy that is unstoppable and her passion for Raph is evident to the most casual passerby. I wish many future weddings are as full of life as this one. Because really, documenting a wedding is one thing. Documenting true love is another.
