Vancouver Stanley Park Wedding Alyson & David Montreal Wedding Photographer
When I was referred to Alyson and David by a very close friend of mine (A 'bff', as some might say) she told me "You'll love her. She'll love you. You two have to meet." Sometimes when someone says that it can be a little bit scary. ‘But what if ... well what if.. .. we don't hit it off?' There's always a chance of that. But my darling Leah knows me too well - in and out- and I knew she wouldn't lead me astray. As Alyson started to explain to me the details of her wedding day and as we got to know each other bit by bit, we totally hit it off (even finishing each other’s sentences and singing songs and saying "NO ! I LOVE THAT SONG!) I was thrilled to be a part of their wedding. This was not to be just any wedding. It was beautifully inspired by none other than Miss "Alice in Wonderland" Is that something I'd like? Umm...YES PLEASE!
Alyson has been planning her dream wedding for a long time. Always in love with the story of Alice in Wonderland, she knew exactly which details she wanted in her wedding. From the perfect "Alice" bridesmaids dresses, to the location she specifically wanted to shoot in - Stanley Park. Much of the work and details put into the big day were all DIY and one special touch that was truly beautiful was her wedding band which was once her grandmothers. When we arrived in Vancouver we quickly went to the park and, instantly, I was beyond happy! As we drove around the park, each corner greeted us with something new to see. Cute little bridges with stone walls, little park benches here and there, massive trees towering over us....and, what quickly became my personal obsession, the dense thick earthy moss - something we really do not have much of here in Quebec. Capturing Alyson and David in this thicket of a forest was a dream.
I'm so glad they gave us this trip of a lifetime, this incredible opportunity to be a part of their storybook wedding. Not only did she give us carte blanche to choose a couple locations within the park but she also showed us so much warmth and love during our stay there. These two love each other so much - it's evident in the way David looks at her and in the way she gushes about him. It's evident in the way David proposed to her. Having a book which he wrote in as a sort of life journal a few years back, he saved the last page for a monumental time when he knew something good would go there. Something life altering. He couldn't have chosen better. He there penned to his love a little letter pouring his heart out. One day they're there together he had her read his journal and as she got to the last page she saw what was before her. He asked her "Will you Marry Me? " with a sketch of the very ring he had with him. Her answer is evident in the picture below :) .
We couldn't be happier for you both. Felicitations from your Montreal compadres.
