Halifax Elopement Wedding

Mario and Cindy's love story took them on an unforgettable journey from Toronto to Halifax, where they embarked on a secret elopement. With their furry best friend Rudy in tow, they sought the services of myself, a Halifax elopement photographer to capture their intimate ceremony in the heart of Nova Scotia.

We met at Bar Sofia which would serve two purposes, a central spot for us to officially meet and a perfect photo op where I bought them both champagne to really make it feel like the celebration it was.

Against the picturesque backdrop of Halifax Harbour, Mario and Cindy exchanged vows in a private ceremony on the steps overlooking the water. With the iconic Rise Again building as their backdrop it was truly unforgettable. Their decision to elope in Halifax was a testament to their desire for simplicity and intimacy on their special day. One incredible moment was right after they were ‘husband and wife’ unbeknownst to us there was a silent crowd gathering at the foot of the steps and they all cheered with such exuberance, it left all of us speechless! A testament to just how sweet the East Coast really is.

M,C & Rudy ready to sign the wedding papers

As their wedding photographer, I got to serve as a witness which was such an honor! (along with Rudy as you can see above)

I then accompanied them as they explored the city's downtown core, capturing candid moments against the backdrop of Halifax's vibrant murals. If you know, you know. Halifax is really making a huge effort to encourage local artists and we sure do have some of the best. Check out the mural festival here. We treated their wedding portraits very methodically and yet you wouldn’t know it - as they’re so natural. These images were to be a true reflection of them; Fun, unconventional, urban and quirky. Mario and Cindy were a bit peckish and opted to have a slice of pizza at the iconic “Pizza Corner” A late night haunt making perfect, unassuming pizza for any partygoer. Or in this case, for a freshly wed duo.

As the sun began to slowly go down, Mario Cindy Rudy and myself celebrated their union at Maxwell's Plum beer garden, with a delicious pint to cool ourselves off with. Their elopement was a testament to the magic of love and the allure of Halifax as a destination for intimate weddings.

This day was nothing short of perfect. It felt like we were just hanging out, enjoying each others company with my camera in tow. I absolutely love elopements (heck my husband and I eloped almost 18 years ago) and its truly the most iconic way to celebrate your love. Feel free to contact me if this is your jam and you want an alternative take on your wedding day.
